What is e-commerce

Today we will review and try to understand the meaning of E-commerce and also the types included in an E-commerce environment.


E-commerce is not more than buying or selling goods over the internet, everything that we buy or sell using the internet is allocated as e-commerce. The same theory is to the services, if we pay for the service throughout the electronic transmission that also will be classified as e-commerce. All of the above are available through electronic devices like as example computers, tablets, or smartphones (Lutkevich, 2022).
The invention of E-commerce opens a new chapter in business which allows a small company to reach a wider audience and expand the market across the globe which before was not possible without outlays of astronomical resources. Now almost everyone can make a purchase of goods from different parts of the world and this same applies to business, as a business owner you can make a deal with people from different continents without moving there and all of that is possible due to e-commerce.
There a several segment types of e-commerce for example:
  • business-to-business
  • business-to-consumer
  • consumer-to-consumer
  • consumer-to-business
E-commerce makes a long way since the beginning and everything has pros & cons but one thing which no one will dispute is that helps develop and expand business across the globe and helps establish a new norm of marketing online which we are facing today (Bloomenthal, 2022).
