Creating a website is not an easy process, even those tools like Wix provides a lot of support there are many aspects of the website which need to be done and created by the developer. In this blog, I will provide the main milestones of creating the No.33 website and try to reflect my opinion during the process of creating the e-commerce site (WixBlog, 2021).
In the beginning, I try to start with the blank form and create everything from scratch. That was not a great idea! I spent many days trying to create the main page based on the YouTube channel, even if on the video they are able to make a great-looking site in 30 min, it does not mean that you will do the same, that was my first and the biggest mistake. Eventually, after many attempts to make the site look right, I decided to scrap my work and start from the beginning using the ready template provided by Wix.
Home Page:
I decided to go with one of the templates from the accessories store and convert it to a site that I need to be. When I started my work on the home page the first thing which was required was to create the product database. Because my site is based on a real-life company. I needed to add ten products, and all of the different kinds of colours and sizes assigned to the products were very time-consuming. The most frustrating part of this was to assign different costs to each product and then to each size and eventually to each color. After all of that was time to add the product description and picture. When my database was created, I manage to find that Wix provides the ability to downland the database from a PC using a CSV file which saves a lot of time, unfortunately for me was too late. Working on the home page was straightforward, problem apprises when I started to use pictures of the products used by the company, where quickly I notice that the format and pictures themselves are not really suitable for the website. Unluckily for me was too late to try to create a new picture for all catalogues of the products which then I will be able to use on the website and I needed to use what I had.
About Page:
On my about page, I include a short story about why the company started and what was the reason for the owner to proceed with that kind of business idea not the other. Our Story page is separated into two sections the first tells the owner’s story and the second provides the business values and main goal that the owner tries to achieve in his company. In the first part, I included the owner’s picture for the credibility of the business.
Contact Page:
The contact page is one of three forms of contact provided on my website. The first is the Live Chat which provides the ability for the customer to quickly contact the company in case of an urgent issue or query which required immediate attention. A decent type of contact form is a FAQ which provides a list of ten questions and answers with the most frequently asked questions by the customer based on company expires over the years. the Last type is the contact page which provides the ability for the customer to send the query email or question to the company for which they will receive an answer in a certain period of time.
In summary, the creation of a website is not an easy task even with help of tools like Wix. During my process, I make two major mistakes which course me a lot of time. the first one was to create the website with a blank template which was impossible for someone who just started using Wix. The site provides a lot of support and guides you throughout the process, but that docent changes the fact that some kind of experience is still required to create a good-looking and functional website from scratch. The seven mistake which I made was to declare that I will be creating my project for the existing company, I did not expect how many things are required to make a website. Creating a good database, pricing, and different type of product attributes that have to be included are very time-consuming and if I have a choice, I will design a fake company for which I won’t need to go with all of the details. On top of that, the biggest disadvantage I faced was catalog pictures, I did not realize how important and how big an impact having a good set of product pictures is. I can easily say that picture will determine if a customer likes your website or not.
